Ideally, PDFs are only a solution once your customer has approved the artwork, because making changes to PDFs are not quite straightforward. PDFs offer the greatest advantages for people who are familiar with prepress requirements and will not require alterations to their final artwork (either at their client’s request or the printing company). PDFs provide little relief for customers who are not sure about their file setup, are using software which the printer does not have, or have been supplied the PDF from a third party (e.g. an advertising agency or another printer) as edits can be required.
