About

Colecandoo! is the blog of Colin Flashman, a prepress operator since 1997. The site aims to provide anyone preparing artwork for print with useful information to make their artwork flow seamlessly in prepress sections of any commercial printer.

The tips on the site are an accumulation of experiences and trials during Colin’s time as a prepress operator, and the blog originally began in the year 2000 as his own rant on an old employer’s website concerning what frustrated him the most about the artwork that had to be processed.

Apart from Colecandoo, Colin also contributes to the printing community in the following ways:

  • Contributing writer for CreativePro Magazine and creativepro.com;
  • Previously spoken at LAIDUG, CreativeProWeek 2019 and PEPCON 2016 about Data Merge, and has had cameo speaking roles at other CPN events such as the InDesignConference 2016 and CreativeProWeek 2018, and the CreativeWOW sessions of CreativeProWeek 2017-2019. Has also spoken at the Creative Developer Summit 2024 in Washington DC.
  • Appeared as a teacher’s assistant at Adobe MAX 2018 assisting students in both Anne-Marie Concepcion and Bart van de Wiele’s classes; and Adobe MAX 2024 assisting students in Adobe Illustrator classes taught by Andrew Hochradel and Shanti Sparrow.
  • Previously spoken at several Adobe Users’ Group of South Australia sessions;
  • A member of the Adobe Experts Group of the Adobe Forums with the familiar “hands in the air” logo.
  • Received the accreditation of Adobe Certified Professional in Print & Digital Media Publication Using Adobe InDesign.

    • Hello there, please accept my sincere apologies for such a long delay in the response. If you mean merge records 1 and 2 to a file, then 3 and 4 to another file, etc, then yes this can be done. Because it is bespoke in nature, this would be a custom-made script that would have to be charged for. Contact me directly via my contact page on this site for further details.

  1. Hi, I have purchase “Data Merge to single records PRO” script. Option ‘Run script prior to export’ not working, export to ‘Print’ also not working, it export only one record. I’m using Indesign 2021 macos mojave, I have also tried it on Windows 10, InDesign 2021, and the results are similar.
